Mugu is a remote, inaccessible and backward hilly district located in the northern part of the Karnali Zone in the Midwestern Development Region of Nepal. Administrative division

Mugu district, which has only one parliamentary constituency, was earlier divided into 23 VDCs, but now it has one municipality and three village local levels. The existing local levels in Mugu district are 1. Chhayannath Rara, 2. Khatyad, 3. Mugum Karmarong and 4. Are soru. 

The biggest lake of Nepal Rara Lake is located in this district many people visited here. Rara lake is like a piece of heaven on the earth.
